The Roman's Colosseum

>> Thursday, 16 October 2008

It has been about 2 years now. I can still remember how great it was being in Rome. The architectures are really amazing. Anyway, here are some photos after quite awhile since my last post.

Colosseum, Rome

If you look at this photo carefully, it is a panorama shot. I stitched two photos together. not too bad eh? I was just using my 18-70mm lens back then, not wide enough for the space I could move.

Colosseum, Rome

This is the interior of the Colosseum. Its really amazing to be able to build such a stadium which could contain up to 50,000 spectators.

Colosseum, Rome

Most of the structures were destroyed, and additional structures were added to support the Colosseum.

Colosseum, Rome

This is located directly opposite the Colosseum. It was destroyed as well, noticed the broken pillars and broken walls.

Colosseum, Rome

Just another view of the Colosseum from a different angle of view.

Colosseum, Rome

We were there in the early morning, the sun wasn't too warm (colour wise) but the structures were all 'yellowish' and plus the shadow caused by the other side of the Colosseum. Therefore, no able to capture the clear detail of the colosseum. How I wish I know how to do HDR back then :-P

Anyway, do enjoy and feel free to drop some comments ;)

Last time i took about 1++ hour to queue only manage to get in. But it was really worth it, amazing architecture.

when u been there? summer? how come from your photo the weather seems nice.

Vincent 17 October 2008 at 00:56

abe: thanks.

ViaN: Didn't took us long to get in, I think there is a maximum amount of people to go in at a time. So maybe when you were there the people ahead of you just entered. The only queue that I need to wait for quite sometime was the Eiffel Tower. It was so cold and the queue was so long.
I was there at the end of Autumn. Well, most of the time European weather are pretty lovely. From my experience travelling Europe, quite rare to get bad weather. Just like my Barcelona and Oslo trip, cloudy and slight rain.

This is where one of the scene in Jumper was shot rite? Where the guy sneaked into the Colosseum.

Vincent 17 October 2008 at 04:55

vialentino: when were you there? i was there at the end of 2006.

waiseng: Yes, there is one scene in the Jumper or if you still remember one of Bruce Lee's old film...

reddishtea: wish I have more time for documentaries. Need to get back to my 'student-life' again. Not entirely but partially. haha.

Vian: why was it disappointing when you are at the top? isn't summer a lot better compared to the time i travelled which is during winter?
